Where to eat in Pula, from konobas to seafront fish restaurants
Pula's restaurants span Istrian konobas, seafood dining rooms on Verudela, old-town trattorias and pizzerias, brunch cafes and gelaterias beside the Arena.
Istrian ingredients run through most menus, whatever the style: boškarin, the Istrian ox, as carpaccio or a šug over pasta; truffles from the Motovun forest on fuži, pasta and pizza; pršut and local cheeses; and fish landed that day. Wine lists lean on Istrian producers.
The old town and the streets around the Arena hold trattorias, pizzerias, bistros and gelaterias, some in side streets climbing towards the Historical Museum and others on Giardini near the Golden Gate. Verudela has seafood dining rooms on the shore, south Pula around Sisplac and Monte Paradiso keeps konobas and fish restaurants, some with their own parking, and Valbandon near Fažana and Vodnjan add a family konoba and a coffee roastery.
Some central kitchens run a marenda menu of homemade dishes alongside the à la carte list, a few konoba dishes come in limited portions or must be ordered ahead, and outside the old town many places deliver or keep free parking for guests.
