Pula Beaches
Where to swim around Pula, from city coves to Cape Kamenjak
Beaches around Pula mean shallow pebble bays and cliff-jumping coves on Verudela, the Lungomare's rocks and the protected coves of Kamenjak.
The swimming is on the southern shore of the city and beyond it. Verudela, the pine-covered peninsula where most of the large hotels stand, is indented into pebbly coves and rocky beaches; Stoja, the headland to the west, is rock rather than sand, with the sea mostly entered straight off the rocks; and the Lungomare promenade links bathing spots through the woods from Valkane to Valsaline.
Further out the beaches follow the coast: north-west to Fažana and the campsites facing Brijuni, and south-east through Medulin to Premantura and the coves of Cape Kamenjak, where cars need a pass and bathers are asked to stay within 100 metres of the coast. The large campsites keep beaches of their own, some with lifeguards and a separate beach for dogs, and beach bars run on several of the city coves, with DJ days in summer.
