Franciscan friars were recorded in Pula in the 13th century, and their church was completed in 1314 by Jacobus de Pola in a late Romanesque style with Gothic de…Franciscan friars were recorded in Pula in the 13th century, and their church was completed in 1314 by Jacobus de Pola in a late Romanesque style with Gothic details, following the rules the order issued at Narbonne in 1260: a rectangular plan, a square sanctuary and a bell gable set in a single wall. The walls are built of finely dressed stone blocks, and the main portal is carved with floral motifs.

A Gothic cloister beside the church was given early Renaissance pillars in the 15th century and now displays medieval carved stones and copies of wall paintings from Istrian churches. The church also keeps the remains of Blessed Otto, a friar who died in Pula in 1241.
